Game Flush Now Available

Cockett Farm is now offering a 25 target game flush using a mixture of standard and midi clays. All targets are driven over the shooter with random timing and trajectories to closely simulate game shooting. Feedback so far is that this is great fun, even for those that never shoot game. Due to the random timing you will need to be on the ball - great practice for honing your reactive and instinctive shooting. The cost is £5.00 per 25 clays or £3.00 for 15.

Christmas Shoot Results

The weather was kind to us this year and although cold, was bright and sunny. Entries were up on previous years and in all we raised £425 for the Farnsfield Heart Response organisation. This is a local voluntary organisation entirely funded by donations so your support is much appreciated.

The sporting was won by Kieran Rattigan with a 46/50 this was 4 clear of second place Enda Ford with Paul Umley and Tony Bott joint third on 41.

Tony Bott and Enda Ford continued their good form with a 24 and 23 respectively on the FITASC layout to take first and second. Tony Broadhead also carded a 23 for equal second.

Peter had put on one of his usual challenging 12 target pool shoots with nothing further than 30 yards away but deceptive speeds and angles. From the record entry there were no straights recorded. The first and last payouts were for scores of 9 to Dave Athorn and Andy Gobby. Other winners on the day were Charlie Dolan and Mick Howes with 11 and Dave Athorn, Tony Broadhead and Ken Rimington with 10.

Once again, manay thanks for all your support, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Over £700 raised for Children's Cancer Ward

Many thanks go to everyone that attended our fund raising event on 28th August. We had 74 entries for the pool shoot but only Charlie Dolan managed to record a straight.

Set on our DTL layout, there were 4 targets - an easy right to left over the bank and quartering away, a straight DTL target, a long incoming teal and a tricky edge on left to right. The wind changed direction and strengthened during the day meaning that the later entries had a much easier incomer. The left to right crosser caused most trouble, making many otherwise promising scores look below par.

With a prize payout every 15 shooters the weather was never an issue in deciding the winners. Neil Slow started the day well by winning both the first and second wave and going home 500 cartridges better off. The third wave saw a 4 way tie between Luke Bartle, Richard Marriott, Ken Rimington and Brian Fisher splitting 500 shells between them. The fourth wave saw Charlie Dolan record the only straight of the day giving him 250 shells, unlucky for John Frost who was only one target behind. The final card and a further 250 cartridges were taken by Mick Hawthorne.

Thanks also go to those that were unable to attend but have given donations and also to the sponsors - The Clay Pigeon Company, Lyalvale Express, Gamebore and Hull Cartridge Company.

Great results for Cockett Farm shooters

Congratulations to Dave Hinchliffe who after taking the Derbyshire DTL title has recently returned from Northern Ireland where he was a member of the England Veterans DTL team which won both the Home International & British Open team events.

At the recent Nottinghamshire Single Barrel championship both Ken Rimington and Freddy Brown were on form with Ken winning the Veterans title and Freddy taking runner up spot in Juniors. Ken has won pretty much every county title going and has represent England on numerous occasions. Freddy, still only a colt at age 12 already has a string of county and regional titles to his name and is definitely one to watch in future.

Charity fundraiser at Cockett Farm

Many of our shooters will know young Bradley Wood, who shoots with his grandfather Johno and other friends on a Sunday morning. Bradley is currently undergoing treatment for bone cancer at the E38 children's cancer ward at the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.

To raise money for the ward, we are holding a pool shoot on 28th August. This shoot has been kindly supported by the Clay Pigeon Company, Lyalvale Express and Hull Cartridge company. Prizes will be cartridges so all money taken (and any additional donations) on the pool shoot will be donated to the ward.

Cockett Farm will be open as usual on the 28th with the exception of the DTL range which will hold the pool shoot.

We look forward to seeing you to support such a worthwhile cause.

Congratulations to Cockett Farm Shooters

Cockett Farm shooters had a good weekend at the recent Dougall Memorial & English Open DTL competition held at Southern Counties in Dorset.

Dave Hinchliffe secured his first cap for the England team having performed solidly over the full selection process. Dave, who was unlucky to miss out on a place last year will now represent England at the Home International tournament in Northern Ireland. Dave's scores were also good enough to qualify him for the European Championship team but he is unable to attend due to other commitments.

Emma Wheeldon was, as usual, at the top of her game in the major championships and won the English Open ladies class. This follows on from her recent win at the Krieghoff Classic.

Joe Booth, one of Nottinghamshire's up and coming won the Colts class at the Dougall Memorial and was 2nd in class at the English Open.
